Jana George, MA
Manager of Research & Policy Development
Jana George is the Manager of Research and Policy Development with SISCO and a member of Chippewas of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation (CKSPFN). She started as a part-time and occasional contractor at the Research Assistant level with SISCO in 2016, while she was completing her schooling. In 2020, she became a full-time Research Assistant and integral member of the team. In 2022, Jana was promoted to Manager, and now manages research staff, subcontractors and multiple complex projects at one time proficiently, reporting directly to the Director of Operations and CEO. Jana has worked with federal, territorial, and provincial governments, as well as First Nations organizations and communities in her time with SISCO.
Prior to joining SISCO, Jana was a Policy Analyst Intern for Indigenous Services Canada, a Communications Analyst for the Royal Bank of Canada (both in 2019) and the Entrepreneurship Community Liaison for Lambton College between 2016 and 2018. She has also worked for CKSPFN directly as an Administrative Assistant in 2015. Jana has a B.A. in First Nations Studies from Western University and an M.A. from the University of Waterloo in Public Service. In her spare time, Jana spends time with family, including her beloved dog Lynyrd, and coaches her brother in competitive boxing.
